The title of Donald Horne's 1964 book was meant to be ironic. Her material endowments and proximity to booming Asian markets have been the foundation of the nations economy. Does that make the Australia and the Aussie Dollar just another commodity country blessed in time as well as space riding the now generation long East Asian trajectory? Is there more there more to Down Under than "because I come from a land of plenty"?
