Ethereum overview: Vitalik reveals his crypto holdings

  • ETH/USD reversed the gains of the previous day.
  • Vitalik Buterin names the altcoins in his portfolio.

ETH/USD is changing hands at $142.20, down 3% since this time on Tuesday. The second largest coin by market value reversed gains after growing to $151.00 at the beginning of the week. The future Constantinople upgrade creates additional volatility and makes ETH vulnerable to the potential big moves.

Meanwhile, the creator of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin disclosed the information about his cryptocurrency holdings. Apart from ETH, he keeps Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin and Zcash. However, the aggregated value of the above said coins does not exceed 10% of his Ethereum holdings.

He also has a considerable capital share in blockchain-startup Clearmatics engaged in creating decentralized clearing networks used to automate financial derivatives system.

Ethereum’s technical picture

ETH/USD dropped below SMA50 on 1-hour chart. As the sell-off is gaining traction, the next focus is on psychological $140.00 handle, followed by $135.60 (SMA100, 1-hour). A move below $135.00 will reverse the gains and bring ETH back to the bearish trend.

On the upside, we need to see a sustainable recovery above $145.00 (SMA50) followed by $146.00 (midline of the Bollinger Band on 1-hour chart).
