US: Annual core CPI ticks down to 2.1% in February

According to the data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday, Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.2% and 1.5% on a monthly and yearly basis, respectively. Moreover, the core-CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, ticked down to 2.1% annually from 2.2% recorded in January on the back of a 0.1% monthly increase and both readings came in slightly below the market expectations.
With the initial reaction to the data, the US Dollar Index lost its traction and retreated from its session highs. As of writing, the index was up 0.12% on the day at 97.06.
