Bitcoin fork: Bitcoin Private set to increase anonymity

  • The exact time of the hard fork will not be made public
  • The fork adds zk-Snarks to enhance privacy

Bitcoin Private official private support portal is live. It is confirming speculation that Bitcoin hard fork is only a few weeks away. There is a live chat on the website for support and knowledge about the new Bitcoin Private (BTCP).

The latest fork proposes the addition of zk-Snarks rather than attaching the Segwit or adjusting the block sizes. The zk-Snarks is a feature used to enhance privacy and has been used in other coins including zcash, zclassic, and zencash. The fork is being spearheaded by Rhett Creighton on 28 February 2018. However, the exact time for the fork will not be made public. BTCP will be available to the holders of both currencies. A snapshot of the zclassic and bitcoin blockchains will be taken and the distribution will be effected by a ratio of 1:1 to the holders of the coins.

A total of 20 million coins are expected to be produced after the fork combining both Bitcoin and zclassic’s total supply. The BTCP team has made proper code that is undergoing thorough testing including wallet strength testing. Zclassic currently trades on only two exchanges, Bittrex and Cryptopia. There is a high chance Bitcoin Private will also be distributed on these two exchanges. However, Bitcoin Private has already applied to be listed on Binance trading exchange.
