Fed’s Williams: Three to four rate hikes in 2018 seems appropriate

John Williams, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, is very positive about the economic outlook in the US and abroad. He said that three to four interest rate hikes in 2018 are appropriate.

Regarding inflation, Williams said that it is moving toward the 2% target after a “temporary” slowdown. According to him the recent move higher in inflation is “very reassuring”. The US economy will grow 2.5% during the next two years in his view.
