The European Central Bank (ECB) board member Fabio Panetta downplayed expectations about rising inflation in his interview on Wednesday.
Additional comments
“The risk of providing too little stimulus is high.”
“It is premature to withdraw stimulus measures.”
“The conditions today do not justify reducing the pace of PEPP purchases.”
“A discussion about phasing out PEPP is clearly premature.”
“We are now seeing an undesirable increase in yields.”
Market reaction
EUR/USD is easing below 1.2150, as the US dollar attempts a bounce after Fed-led declines. The above comments fail to have any impact on the euro.
