BitGo receives security certification from a bigshot auditing company

  • The identity of the auditor has not been revealed.
  • They received Type 1 certification from Deloitte & Touche LLP.

BitGo, the crypto wallet and blockchain security company, has received a service organization control (SOC) 2 Type 2 certification from an unnamed external audit firm. The identity of the auditor and the details of the reports has not been revealed.

BitGo, along with Gemini, had earlier received the SOC 2 Type 1 certification from Deloitte & Touche LLP after a year-long test. The SOC certification ensures the internal security measures of any company. Type 1 checks if the firm has established all the necessary security measures while Type 2 checks if the established security standards are being followed.

Speaking to Coindesk, Top Pageler, the chief security officer of the firm, said:

“There is no legal requirement for us to do that. It’s done to legitimize the industry, to let people see that we are treating our work seriously. Our customers would come to us and they want to know who audits us and what is the set of controls we hold ourselves to.”
