Analysts at Nomura offered their model's projections for today's USD/CNY fix.

"Our model1 projects the fix to be 124 pips higher than the previous fix (6.5932 from 6.5808) and 44 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close of 6.5888. The basket implied change is 50 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close (6.5938 from 6.5888)."

The precious metal’s move higher is also underpinned by the slight pullback in the US Dollar and declining US Treasury yields across the curve.
