Analysts at Nomura offered their model's projection for today's fix.

"Our model1 projects the fix to be 169 pips higher than the previous fix (6.3203 from 6.3034) and 159 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close of 6.3044. The basket implied change is 230 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close (6.3274 from 6.3044)."

The precious metal’s move higher is also underpinned by the slight pullback in the US Dollar and declining US Treasury yields across the curve.
