Analysts at Nomura offered their model's projection for today's fix.

"Our model1 projects the fix to be 120 pips higher than the previous fix (6.3017 from 6.2897) and 119 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close of 6.2898. The basket implied change is 152 pips higher than the previous official spot USD/CNY close (6.3050 from 6.2898)."

The precious metal’s move higher is also underpinned by the slight pullback in the US Dollar and declining US Treasury yields across the curve.
