Analysts at Nomura offered their projections for today's USD/CNY fix.

"Our model1 projects the fix to be 120 pips higher than the previous fix (6.8993 from 6.8873) and 92 pips lower than the previous official spot USD/CNY close of 6.9085. The basket implied change is 111 pips lower than the previous official spot USD/CNY close (6.8974 from 6.9085)."

The precious metal’s move higher is also underpinned by the slight pullback in the US Dollar and declining US Treasury yields across the curve.
