According to the People's Daily China, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Italy has increased to 323, including 11 deaths, as of 12 am Feb 26 local time. That's the highest number of coronavirus infections outside Asia
Elsewhere in Europa, nations such as Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Austria were reporting their first cases of the virus. Italy is a huge concern. Italy has confirmed 322 cases of the virus, the Italian civil protection agency said Tuesday.
Analysts at ANZ noted that "some EU governments are advising against travelling to infected regions – The EU has made EUR195m available to help combat the crisis. Traffic data for Milan for the last week is showing a drop in passenger movement versus the 2019 average."
FX implications
The euro is likely to come under pressure again but the attention should be on EUR/JPY as the US dollar gives back some ground and US stocks plummet. 119.30 has been a key level of acceptance on the charts and 118.50 below that.
