S&P 500 Index clings to gains near 3,240, Florida reports 9,446 new coronavirus cases

Florida's Department of Health announced on Wednesday that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state increased by 9,446 to a total of 451,423, as reported by Reuters.
Further details of the daily update revealed that COVID-19-related deaths rose by 217 to 6,457 and the hospitalizations decreased by 237 to 8,786.
Market reaction
The S&P 500 Index largely ignored this report and was last seen trading at fresh session highs near 3,240, gaining 0.7% on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index is down 0.23% on the day at 93.50.
