Japan’s Aso suspects US wants bilateral FTA

Japan’s Finance Minister Taro Aso was on the wires earlier today, via Reuters, commenting on the bilateral free-trade agreement (FTA) with regard to the US.

“Our preference is for the United States to come back to TPP, but there is a sense that the U.S. side wants a bilateral free trade agreement with Japan, so this point is of the utmost concern.”
The US President Donald Trump withdrew from the multi-lateral Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) soon after taking office early last year.
