China’s NHC reports 409 new cases in mainland from coronavirus outbreak as on Feb 23

According to the latest data published by China’s National Health Commission’s (NHC), 409 additional cases of coronavirus are reported as of end Feb 23 vs. 648 confirmed on Feb 22), bringing the total cases up to 77,150.
Additional details:
China’s coronavirus death toll rises by 150 to 2,592.
24,734 virus patients have been discharged.
China' s Hubei province, the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak, reports 398 new cases on Feb 23 vs. 630 on Feb 22.

Meanwhile, Global Times reports that 6 Hubei cities, including Huanggang & Jingzhou, reported zero confirmed new coronavirus cases on Sunday. The cases of the virus in prisons were also included in the city-level report.
The Chinese news outlet also reported: “Wuhan has eased lockdown by allowing stranded personnel to leave the city, if not under medical observation or quarantine. Wuhan dwellers and vehicles from outside the city could return after following necessary procedures.”
Market implications:
Risk sentiment saw a fresh leg lower on the updated stats from the Commission, with the yen drawing fresh bids and driving USD/JPY back below 111.50 while the Aussie is headed back to the 11-year low of 0.6583, having failed the recovery attempts near 0.6625.
The Asian stocks are in a sea of red while S&P 500 futures are diving nearly 1.50%, benefiting the ultimate safe-haven gold, which is up 1% near $1665.
