EU's Verhofstadt: Impossible for Brexit extension beyond May 23rd

European Parliament's Brexit coordinator Guy Verhofstadt recently crossed the wires saying that it was 'impossible' for the EU to give the UK a Brexit extension beyond May 23rd.
Yesterday, British Prime Minister Theresa May in a letter asked for an extension until June 30th and the EU responded by saying that the UK would have to take part in the European Parliament election if the extension were to go beyond May 23rd.
