EU to issue letter over backstop reassurances to UK - RTE

According to the latest headlines reported by RTE News, the European Union (EU) will reportedly issue a letter later this morning to the UK government that will include a series of reassurances on the Irish backstop.
Key Quotes:
“The letter, which will be issued jointly by the presidents of the European Council and Commission, will stress that the backstop is not the EU’s preferred solution to avoiding a hard border, that it does not undermine the Good Friday Agreement, nor is it part of any covert attempt by the EU to "annex" Northern Ireland.
However, the letter will insist that there can be no renegotiation of the backstop.”
Meanwhile, BBC Europe Editor Katya Adler tweeted: “In today’s EU letter of assurances on #Brexit deal, the real message to MPs to help Theresa May is the EUs insistance that -as PM claims- this deal is the ONLY deal on offer. The content of the letter: reassurances on the backstop etc we’ve (often) heard from Brussels before 1.”
