US producer price index rises 0.4% in November

The US Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.4% in November, seasonally adjusted, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Expectations were for a 0.1% rise following a flat reading in October. Over the 12 months to November, PPI grew 1.3%, the biggest 12-month gain in two years and above the 0.9% increase expected.

Producer price index less foods, energy moved up 0.4% in November after edging down 0.2% in October. For the 12 months ended in November, the core index climbed 1.6%.
