US: New home sales increased by 4.9% in February vs 1.3% expected

The monthly data published by the U.S. Census Bureau showed that new home sales increased by 4.9% in February following March's 8.2% (revised from -6.9%) and surpassed the market expectation of 1.3%. "The median sales price of new houses sold in February 2019 was $315,300. The average sales price was $379,600," the publication read.
