Lagarde speech: when asked about what “some time” means in the banks forwards guidance, says a week or months

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, in response to a question about the central bank's forward guidance where it says rate hikes would come "some time" after the end of net asset purchases, says that could mean a week or months. Regarding the discussion on monetary policy, Lagarde said it was very intense and different views were shared from around the table. However, there was a broad determination by all to rally around the Chief Economist's proposal. Some governing council members said the ECB should be uncertain and do nothing, Lagarde noted, adding that others didn't want any conditionality attached to monetary policy tightening.
