EU sceptical Brexit deal can be sealed before March 21-22 summit - Reuters

Citing EU sources familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that the EU was sceptical about the Brexit deal getting finalised before the March 21-22 summit. "The bloc is trying to prevent direct negotiations between 27 leaders and British Prime Minister Theresa May," sources said and added that Attorney General Cox's "mini-backstop" would envisage fewer checks on the Irish border than the backstop already envisaged in the EU-UK withdrawal deal.

EUR/USD looks weak below 1.1800

Gold is now facing some downside pressure, hovering around the $5,170 region on Thursday. The yellow metal surrenders part of its earlier gains on the back of the resurgence of the buying interest in the Greenback. In the meantime, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to limit the downside potential for now.
