Canada: Retail sales up 0.3% in January

“Retail sales increased 0.3% in January to $49.9 billion,” the Statistics Canada reported this Friday.
Key highlights:
• Sales were up in 7 of 11 subsectors, representing 63% of retail trade.
• Excluding sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers, retail sales increased 0.9%.
• After removing the effects of price changes, retail sales in volume terms rose 0.1% in January.
