Breaking: US CB Consumer Confidence Index jumps to 98.1 in June

The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index rose sharply to 98.1 in June after coming in at 85.9 (revised from 86.6) in May. This reading beat the market expectation of 91.8.
Further details of the publication revealed that the Present Situation Index improved to 86.2 from 68.4 in May.
Market reaction
The US Dollar Index largely ignored this data and was last seen gaining 0.17% on the day at 97.63. Meanwhile, the upbeat data seems to be providing a modest boost to market sentiment. As of writing, the S&P 500 was up 0.2% on the day at 3,059 points.
