The planetary pictures suggested turbulence

Dear Fellow Star-gazers,

Happy Full Moon

Those of you who attended the workshops in Montreal and Toronto in July will know just how concerned I was about these first few days of September: The planetary pictures suggested turbulence. What I didn’t know then was that the solar action this week would also be significant:

Sunspot activity is increasing. Given the concentration of sun-spot activity facing Earth comes the possibility of solar flares headed toward Earth – bringing with them the potential to knock out working satellites and so bring disturbance to many, many areas of modern-day life. Though insufficient research has been done, even now we can draw the conclusion that with increased flares comes the probability of high levels of excitement and – at least market-wise – frenetic activity.

Mars has now crossed the eclipse degree and with this Full Moon – itself aligned with Neptune, there is much to be emotional and yes, distressed – about. The list of Mars-related events as the planet crossed the eclipse degree is remarkable even without N.Korea’s hydrogen bomb test: the unexploded WW11 bomb in Frankfurt, the destruction of homes in Beijing, the fire in Los Angeles etc etc. Correlation between patterns in the sky and events on Earth are not hard to find.

As suggested in last month’s letter, the pressure on Pres. Trump is considerable and unlikely to draw to a conclusion any time soon. Though I would agree with colleagues that there are many links between present planetary positions and past nuclear action, I don’t want to write about that here – at least for now. I am as concerned about the potential for further natural calamity in the coming weeks:

With Uranus and Neptune an eighth of a circle apart, and the latter travelling through its own sign of Pisces, it is perhaps not surprising (Uranus) that so many parts of the world are under water. I want to be ‘wrong’ but sadly fear that there may be more storm catastrophe still to come – and before the next Full Moon (October 5th). Dealing with this will take considerable effort. Looking ahead, greater disaster could befall some regions in June 2018. If history repeats, then the Mississippi delta could be under water again and other regions deluged before they have had chance to recover this year’s torrential rains.

Market-wise, many are of the opinion that a major correction is just around the corner. It would be understandable if the reaction of traders - over September 5th and 6th especially - resulted in a major down-turn. It is not unknown for Asian markets especially to react adversely to Saturn’s transit of a Mutable sign (as with its present transit of Sagittarius). The coming weeks could see those markets dragged down considerably, though those in the West might not suffer in the same way.

It is now ten years since what’s been termed the ‘Global Financial Crisis (GFC)’ and memory of that time may be such that many who were negatively affected are fearful of a replay. Certainly I feel that the GFC ought to have a sub-title of ‘Part One’ as I am sure that there is more to come.

Appalling as that earlier crisis was, it was NOT all bad news and some people gained. That will presumably be true next time as well. The art, as always, is in positioning. For now, yes, it seems that financial storm clouds are gathering. It surely would take just one other weather storm in the US to bring financial catastrophe to Wall Street. I am concerned about many dates in September: notably 11th, 13th/14th (Asia especially) and the week beginning Monday 18th.

An alignment of the Moon, Vesta and Chiron at the next Full Moon (October 5th) could coincide with significant turbulence affecting Forex markets particularly – with the US dollar caught in the headlights. Even if that first week of October brings recovery from earlier falls in all markets, I would anticipate further negativity in the following weeks (more on these in the next letter).

For now, suffice it to say that my reading of the situation is that a correction is on the horizon and that it will not be possible to stave the inevitable.

It might not be possible to stave off conflict either – though I have more concern about that in 2018 than at present. Next year the lunar node picks up a series of midpoints in the US chart which, when triggered in the past, has led to ‘naval incident’. Saturn has recently stationed on a degree connected to this particular midpoint tree. In a sense that’s ‘good’ news in that Saturn may well have stayed the hand of those determined to see action. That’s unlikely to be true in 2018 however – and especially through July when the combination of lunar distance with a lunar eclipse could bring dark moments.

Fears as to who will govern Germany after their election on September 24th could seriously destabilise European markets from Sept 18th.  The presently indicated confusion as to the result is seemly given the opposition between Mars and Neptune on the day of the vote (aspects are often ‘heard’ in advance). Moreover, the Moon is in Scorpio that day. Opinion polls are likely to be wrong (again). I think it most likely that Mrs Merkel will hold her position and that that will result in euro-market rebound later.

On September 28th,  the last opposition of Jupiter to Uranus across the Libra- Aries axis (won’t recur on this axis until 2099!!), coincides with Pluto’s station, and could bring the last significant high of this quarter in the West. This though could be the moment to consider purchasing precious metals whose price, I think, will rise significantly within a few short weeks.

I will be covering all this and more in the Finance webinar on Saturday 16th September. The cost is £55 and you can reserve a place for this via [email protected]. This will be recorded for those unable to attend the live event at 14.00 GMT.

The Draconic Zodiac webinar will be held the next day, Sunday 17th September, at 15.00 GMT at a cost of £36. This will NOT be recorded as it is hoped that students will offer their own charts for study. Again, you can reserve a place through [email protected]

Those of you awaiting the Draconic Newsletter – the wait is nearly over! We hope to send the first issue this weekend or early next week.

Since the last Full Moon letter it has been my very great pleasure to speak at the Faculty of Astrological Studies Summer School in Oxford. This was an addition to this year’s diary and was delightful with 135 students from many countries in attendance. My Sagittarius Moon is very happy! It is also excited about the possibility of a return to Ft Lauderdale before the end of the year – more on that in the next letter.

For now, looking forward to connecting with some of you at the Astrological Lodge in London on Sept 25th or in Dublin (October 14th- 16th) or with the new Jupiter group in London on October 26th

With all good wishes

Yours from the stars

EUR/USD holds firm near 1.1850 amid USD weakness

EUR/USD remains strongly bid around 1.1850 in European trading on Monday. The USD/JPY slide-led broad US Dollar weakness helps the pair build on Friday's recovery ahead of the Eurozone Sentix Investor Confidence data for February.

GBP/USD hovers near 1.3600 as UK government crisis weighs on Pound Sterling

GBP/USD moves sideways after registering modest gains in the previous session, trading around 1.3610 during the European hours on Monday. The pair could come under pressure as the Pound Sterling may weaken amid a fresh government crisis in the United Kingdom.

Gold remains supported by China's buying and USD weakness as traders eye US data

Gold struggles to capitalize on its intraday move up and remains below the $5,100 mark heading into the European session amid mixed cues. Data released over the weekend showed that the People's Bank of China extended its buying spree for a 15th month in January. Moreover, dovish US Fed expectations and concerns about the central bank's independence drag the US Dollar lower for the second straight day, providing an additional boost to the non-yielding yellow metal.

Cardano steadies as whale selling caps recovery

Cardano (ADA) steadies at $0.27 at the time of writing on Monday after slipping more than 5% in the previous week. On-chain data indicate a bearish trend, with certain whales offloading ADA. However, the technical outlook suggests bearish momentum is weakening, raising the possibility of a short-term relief rebound if buying interest picks up.

Japanese PM Takaichi nabs unprecedented victory – US data eyed this week

I do not think I would be exaggerating to say that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s snap general election gamble paid off over the weekend – and then some. This secured the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) an unprecedented mandate just three months into her tenure.

Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple consolidate after massive sell-off

Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple prices consolidated on Monday after correcting by nearly 9%, 8%, and 10% in the previous week, respectively. BTC is hovering around $70,000, while ETH and XRP are facing rejection at key levels. Traders should be cautious: despite recent stabilization, upside recovery for these top three cryptocurrencies is capped as the broader trend remains bearish.
