Money keeps flowing out of tech
There has been no let-up in the rotation in stock markets, says Chris Beauchamp, Chief Market Analyst at online trading and investing platform IG.
Tech selling continues but other sectors gain
There’s little love for tech stocks right now, investors are dumping them at a rather undignified pace. A recovery last night provided only brief respite, as the selling resumed in the US session. It’s clear where the flows are going – to almost everything else. It has been the Dax’s turn to shine today, but the FTSE 100 hasn’t been left out, and this latter index can look with pride on a very impressive performance over the past week. Sometimes being full of boring stocks can be just the ticket.
Dollar extends losses
Few would have dared guess that a week containing hotter CPI and PPI readings would hurt the dollar, but such is life in financial markets. The greenback’s impressive reversal from an eighteen-month high signals that an October hike is firmly off the schedule, and while the 2026 uptrend for the currency is still intact, we could be in for a rerun of the August rout.
