US non-farm payrolls far exceed expectations

Non-farm payrolls (NFP) in the United States rose by more than expected last month, data released today showed.

According to figures from the Labor Department, payrolls rose by 336,000 in September.

This was higher than the 170,000 sum forecasted, and more than an upwardly revised figure of 227,000 the month prior.

The nation’s rate of unemployment also came in higher than projected, with a reading of 3.8%.

Gold rebounded from a 7-month low on the news.

SEC files lawsuit against Elon Musk

The Securities and Exchange Commision filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk on Friday, relating to his acquisition of Twitter.

According to reports, the SEC alleges that Musk failed to provide testimony during the agency´s probe into his takeover of Twitter.

In the court filing, it is said that, "The SEC staff is continuing its fact-finding investigation and, to date, has not concluded that any individual or entity has violated the federal securities laws."

However, added that, "Musk´s ongoing refusal was hindering and delaying" the investigation.

The lawyer for Elon Musk responded to this saying, "The SEC has already taken Mr. Musk´s testimony multiple times in this misguided investigation - enough is enough."
