Analysts at TD Securities suggest that there are a number of Fed officials scheduled to speak including Powell, Clarida, Bullard, Barkin, Evans and Kashkari and will be keenly watched by the markets.
“Fed Chair Powell will attract the most attention with a 12:00 ET speech to the Economic Club of Washington, where we expect him to echo the dovish tone of patience and data dependency coming from the minutes and his AEA appearance.”
“Clarida's remarks will come after the close while Barkin's remarks at 8:35 ET may receive more attention due to his status as a 2019 voter. Initial jobless claims are the lone release, with the market looking for a slight dip to 225k for the week of January 5th.”
