UK CPI eases in Dec, but bang on expectations

The UK consumer prices eased slightly to 3.0% in the month of December on an annualized basis, and came in line with expectations, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed on Tuesday.
While the core inflation gauge softened in Dec, coming in at +2.5 y/y. Markets had predicted the core figures to come in a tad weaker at +2.6%.
On monthly basis, the UK inflation figures accelerated slightly, coming in at 0.4% last month, as compared to 0.3% previous while matching expectations.
