Weekly column: Bullish breakouts amidst a sea of global divergence
Review
Japan spent a record 11.7349 trillion yen, or about $73.69 billion, on currency intervention between April 28 and May 27, the Ministry of Finance said, confirming its first direct market intervention since 2024. The government’s action when the yen reached around 160 against the dollar has strengthened the view among traders that officials want to defend that level.

The Uranus-in-Gemini period is now in full bloom. And no one knows where it is headed through 2032, though many will speculate as if they know. One thing that seems likely, however, is that events and changes will happen suddenly and frequently – and then they will be transformed again. Excitement is in. Stability is not, at least not until Saturn calms things down a little when it transits through Taurus starting in Spring 2028 for about 2.5 years. But Uranus will still be in Gemini, so the ping pong match between excitement addiction and the desire for stability will just be an exercise in attempting to prevent emotional whiplash. It can be done, and rewards can be great, but it will require the flexibility to adjust to multiple levels of new human skills and knowledge combined with personal discipline.
Also consistent with Uranus in Gemini is that several financial markets are making new all-time highs. We saw this even last summer when Uranus peeked into Gemini for a few months before returning to clean up some unfinished business in Taurus. Bitcoin, Gold, Silver, and stocks (and other markets) soared last summer. Another hallmark of Uranus in Gemini will be sudden reversals, even crashes, as witnessed by Bitcoin from October to November when it quickly dropped 50% of its value. I expect to see more of that in other markets between now and Spring 2028. However, you can never really “expect” anything definite or consistent with Uranus in Gemini. It is a great deal of original and never-before-seen stuff, like driverless—even flying—automobiles. Who would have thought this five years ago? (I am quite certain I will hear from many who claim they made this prediction – that’s also part of Uranus-in-Gemini’s continuous claim to genius fame that we will hear more and more about in the coming years).
Financial markets are now experiencing their first hit of the Sun conjunct Uranus in Gemini as of May 22. With an orb of one week, we have seen new all-time highs registered in the stock markets of the U.S., the Netherlands, and Japan. The German DAX came close on May 25. Yet other global indices did just the opposite and fell sharply last week, as witnessed in China, Hong Kong, and Brazil.
Bitcoin also took a tumble, falling to the 72,000 area, for the first time since April 14. Ethereum followed suit, falling to its lowest level since March 30. T-Notes dropped to 108/18 on May 19, which fits our special report issued on February 3, 2026, calling for a 30- and 15-month cycle low in May 2026, +/- 1 month. Gold and Silver may have also put in half-primary cycle lows in last week’s three-star geocosmic critical reversal date (CRD) zone. On top of that, Silver held its major cycle low of April 29, while June Gold fell to a new low of 4365 (August to 4395), right in the price target range given by Wyatt and me in both the weekly and monthly MMA Cycles reports for this CRD. By the next day, Friday, Gold was trading above 4625. MMA Daily Options Report subscribers are also benefiting from that setup strategy given early Thursday. Yet, this is all a prelude for the powerful Uranus/Pluto trine being activated by Jupiter in July 2026.
Short-term geocosmics
Technology has made it cheaper and easier for weaker powers to resist stronger ones. Think of the swarms of Ukrainian drones that obliterate Russian invaders every time they try to advance. Or the low-cost Iranian munitions that have closed the Strait of Hormuz, hobbled the global economy, and humiliated an American president…. these and other developments have changed the calculus of war. Attacking another country was always a gamble. As technology gets smarter, the odds for aggressors have got worse: wars of choice are more likely to end in ignominious failure.

The Personal Savings Rate in the US has moved down to 2.6%, the lowest level since April 2008. Average over the last 30 years is 5.7%. Persistent inflation is taking its toll.

The first round of geocosmic fireworks with Uranus in Gemini culminated in our May 22-26 three-star geocosmic critical reversal date (CRD) containing the Sun/Uranus conjunction and then the squares of Mars/Pluto and Venus/Saturn. Any reversals that took place then are apt to continue now for a few weeks, and maybe right into the grand Jupiter convergence of July 18-25 when the solar system’s largest planet (Jupiter) makes a series of consecutive aspects involving the Uranus/Pluto trine.
This cosmic parade begins with the first of five passages of the Uranus/Pluto trine on July 17. Four more of these harbingers of “creative destruction” will follow well into 2028. That is, new innovations will lead to the termination of previous norms and customs (and displacement of jobs) as we now enter the “Post-Aries Vortex” era, 2026-2032, as outlined in the Forecast 2026 Book and webinars.
But back to the near future: on July 20-21, Jupiter will sextile Uranus, trine Neptune, and oppose Pluto. This will be the most important geocosmic configuration of 2026. As discussed before, this has the potential for a booming stock market (“irrational exuberance”) followed by a sudden and swift debt crisis, all within four months, and usually within two months of this planetary convergence. We are in that sweet and sour time band now, and the tech stocks are indeed exhibiting the skyrocketing phase of “irrational exuberance.” One has to be prepared for aftershocks to follow with Jupiter in opposition to Pluto, which could even take until Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio to manifest fully (October 3-November 14).

The first Sun/Uranus conjunction in Gemini since June 27, 1950, unfolded on May 22, 2026. This was notable for us because it happened during the MMA Investment and Trading Retreat of May 20-25, 2026, in beautiful Lake Bled, Slovenia. Now you might think: why would MMA plan its annual retreat under a Sun/Uranus conjunction in Gemini? Wouldn’t that suggest unexpected and possibly disruptive surprises? It could, but the surprises were most pleasant as last-minute signups boosted the overall attendance to a record 66 persons. Our previous high attendance mark was 40. And instead of disruptions, it was an incredibly educational and internationally/socially bonding experience, perhaps because Venus and Mars were in sextile to one another, too.
The information and trading strategies imparted by the analysts and keynote speakers were entirely original and eye-opening, in alignment with the nature of Sun/Uranus in Gemini. But the information shared outside of the classroom was equally exciting, and will result in several relationships that will last for many years. It dawned on me that we have a very unique MMA community developing, consisting of independent and professional traders across the globe who are also involved in many creative business endeavors, enjoy all kinds of music (especially rock and roll, blues, and house music), are very stylish, and not afraid to try adventurous activities to expand their minds and consciousness. I suppose when your focus on market timing factors involves the application of geocosmic and cyclical principles, it is not so surprising that MMA would attract such a very good-looking, brilliant, warm, friendly, and unconventional international crowd. The experience was amazing!
The funny thing is, even after four days, no one seemed tired, which may be a tribute to the way activities were scheduled with plenty of breaks to enjoy the splendid natural beauty of Lake Bled, Slovenia. And don’t forget, the middle letters of Slovenia spell “love.” The pristine quality of the environment and the eclectic personalities of all those who attended blended together to create a very magical experience that defies any sort of explanation in any language other than—excitement, well-being, and love.
Thank you, Lake Bled, Slovenia, and all those who made this experience so wonderful during the first Sun/Uranus conjunction in Gemini since 1950! Looking forward to next year’s MMA Investment Retreat, tentatively scheduled for May 12-17, 2027. Start planning. It’s going to be great as well. After all, Jupiter will be in Leo – and Venus will trine Mars then, too. Another “Magical Mystery Tour” in the making.
