Technical weakness emerges as Dollar strength builds

Technical weakness is becoming more visible across markets. The USD is strengthening, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq remain supported by strong AI-related stocks. The key question is whether this leadership can continue if the broader market starts to fade.

The Dow Jones moved lower yesterday, closing with a bearish candle below 52,000. AUDUSD also weakened, while metals declined under pressure from the stronger dollar. Crypto remains positive, but momentum is struggling to push prices higher.

Market talk

The current setup shows a growing divergence between headline market strength and underlying technical momentum. Strong performance in a narrow group of stocks can keep the major indices elevated, but a fading of that leadership could expose broader weakness. For now, the technical picture is worth watching closely rather than assuming the recent strength will continue.

The Dow Jones is sending a more cautious signal after yesterday’s bearish close below 52,000. A sustained move below this level could increase pressure on the broader equity complex, particularly if other markets continue to lose momentum.

Tendencies in the markets

  • Equities positive, USD stronger, crypto sideways, oil lower, metals weaker, JPY weak.
