NFP in focus as markets lean risk-on
Markets head into today's Non-Farm Payrolls report with a cautiously positive tone. The US dollar has softened, allowing equities to extend their recent gains and supporting a modest improvement in overall risk sentiment. Gold is trading slightly higher on the weaker dollar, while Silver continues to underperform and remains stuck in a sideways-to-negative trend. Oil prices are also under pressure despite the softer greenback, suggesting that easing geopolitical concerns and comfortable supply expectations continue to outweigh currency effects.
The labor market will be the key focus today. Throughout most of this year, US employment data has consistently surprised to the upside, highlighting the resilience of the American economy. Another strong NFP report would reinforce the view that the labor market remains healthy and could reduce expectations for near-term Fed rate cuts. On the other hand, a weaker reading may extend the recent dollar weakness and provide additional support for equities and risk-sensitive currencies.
Market talk
Markets remain balanced ahead of today's key data release. Stocks continue to recover, crypto markets have stabilized after recent volatility, and investors are cautiously adding risk exposure. However, today's NFP report is likely to determine whether the current risk-on momentum can continue. A stronger-than-expected labor report could quickly lift the US dollar and temporarily pressure equities, precious metals, and cryptocurrencies. Until then, markets remain in wait-and-see mode, with investors closely monitoring labor market trends and the implications for future Fed policy.
Tendencies in the markets
Equities positive, USD weak, BTC sideways, oil weak, Silver weak, Gold sideways.
