EUR/JPY Price Forecast: Remains above 180.50 amid subdued upside momentum

  • EUR/JPY may find primary support at the nine-day EMA of 179.98.
  • The 14-day Relative Strength Index is at 44.44, reflecting weak upside momentum rather than oversold conditions.
  • The primary barrier lies at the 50-day EMA of 182.57.

EUR/JPY extends its gains for the third consecutive day, trading around 180.60 during Asian hours on Tuesday. Technical analysis of the daily chart shows the currency cross remaining within a descending channel, suggesting a persistent bearish bias.

The EUR/JPY cross is maintaining a mildly bearish near-term bias as it holds below the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) while only marginally above the shorter nine-day EMA. This positioning suggests rallies are capped by the medium-term trend, with intraday dips still cushioned by nearby dynamic support.

The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 44.44 sits just under the neutral 50 mark, hinting at subdued upside momentum rather than outright oversold conditions.

The EUR/JPY cross may fall toward the initial support at the nine-day EMA of 179.98. A break below the short-term price average would strengthen the bearish bias and put downward pressure on the currency cross to navigate the region around the lower boundary of the descending channel at 177.30, followed by nearly an 11-month low of 175.70, recorded in November 2025.

On the upside, the EUR/JPY cross could rise toward the 50-day EMA of 182.57. Further resistance lies at the upper boundary of the descending channel around 185.00, followed by the all-time high of 187.95 set on April 17.
