Controladora Vuela (VLRS) reports Q2 loss, beats revenue estimates

Controladora Vuela (VLRS) came out with a quarterly loss of $1.11 per share versus the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $1.08. This compares to a loss of $0.54 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -2.78%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this operator of low-cost airline Volaris would post a loss of $0.91 per share when it actually produced a loss of $0.62, delivering a surprise of +31.87%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

Controladora Vuela, which belongs to the Zacks Transportation - Airline industry, posted revenues of $859 million for the quarter ended June 2026, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.10%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $693 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates two times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Southwest Airlines' revenues are expected to be $8.58 billion, up 18.4% from the year-ago quarter.
