Binance hack shakes crypto, but XRP pullback may not be so bearish

Crypto markets were hit by a big headline overnight. Binance confirmed a security incident in which a compromised engineer's laptop led to unauthorized withdrawals, with an estimated impact of around $6.3 billion. About $3 billion has been frozen so far, Binance says it will cover the losses, and withdrawals were paused while security checks are completed. Several outlets are already calling it possibly the biggest crypto hack ever.

The reaction was fast but not dramatic. From just before the news on Thursday evening to the lows, BTC dropped about 5.5%, ETH about 7.0% and XRP about 6.5%. Bitcoin dipped to around 76,320 and is now back near 78.4K. We are watching further developments closely, as well as the key levels and the wave structure, because headlines like this can create noise but also opportunities.

On XRP, the Elliott Wave pattern may not be so bearish. Price broke its long downtrend line in August and September, then rallied from the 0.986 low up to 1.7135. The current pullback to around 1.265 is now testing the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement at 1.2179, near the 200-day moving average. After a breakout like that, a pullback into this zone can still be just a correction, so this is an important area to watch.
