China's trade surplus with the US hit record highs in September

China's trade surplus with the United States surged to a record high of $34.13 billion in September from the August figure of $31.05 billion, Chinese customs data reported on Friday, according to Reuters.
Notably, the September surplus with the US was bigger than China's overall trade surplus of $31.69 billion for the month.
China's record high surplus with the US could add to tensions in the trade relationship between the world's two largest economies.
