FP Trading establishes onshore regulatory presence in the UAE through new CMA licence
FP Trading, an international forex and CFD brokerage, has been granted a Category 5 licence by the UAE's Capital Market Authority (CMA), formerly the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), giving the company a regulated, onshore footing in the country for the first time. The licence permits FP Trading's UAE entity to carry out marketing, promotional, and client introduction activities within the country, under the oversight of the CMA.
FP Trading pointed to the broader trajectory of the UAE's financial services sector as an important part of the reasoning behind the move. Over the past several years, the country has established itself as one of the more prominent financial hubs in the region, drawing a steady stream of brokers, fintech firms, and other financial services providers looking to build a more permanent, locally regulated footing rather than relying exclusively on approvals held elsewhere. The company said obtaining a CMA licence reflects its own version of that same shift, positioning FP Trading among firms choosing to formalise their standing in the country directly.
According to the company, the shift toward an onshore structure is designed to produce tangible benefits for both its client base and its partner network. For clients, the CMA licence adds a further layer to an already broad framework of regulatory oversight spanning several jurisdictions, giving the firm a more direct regulatory relationship within the UAE specifically. This is intended to give clients based in the region added confidence in the oversight applied to the services they use.
For partners, including introducing brokers and affiliates, the shift to a locally licensed structure is expected to translate into practical improvements. The company pointed to faster turnaround on day-to-day queries, closer working relationships built around a physical, and on-the-ground presence.
FP Trading also placed the announcement within the context of a longer-running regulatory strategy, rather than presenting it as an isolated development. The company said it has approached its international growth by building out regulatory coverage on a market-by-market basis, adding new authorisations as it identifies markets where a direct, licensed presence would meaningfully improve its operations. About the UAE license the company said , it represents one of the more significant additions to that broader framework, given both the scale of the market and the pace at which it continues to grow.
Narayan Joshi, General Manager of FP Trading, said: "Having this licence in place lets us work far more closely with our clients and partners in the UAE. It's a long-term commitment to the region, not a short-term move, and it fits into how we're building out our regulatory presence more broadly."
Looking further ahead, the company said it intends to continue expanding its regulatory coverage into additional markets, with the UAE now positioned as one of the central pillars of its regional growth strategy. This expansion, FP Trading added, will not be limited to licensing activity alone: the company plans to continue investing in its trading infrastructure, technology, and client support functions so that the pace of its regulatory growth is matched by a consistent standard of service across every market in which it operates. Further updates on both its licensing activity and its broader regional plans are expected in the months ahead, as the company continues to build out its regulatory presence across additional markets.
The company reiterated that the CMA licence should be viewed as one component of a wider, ongoing international growth strategy, rather than a standalone achievement, and said it remains focused on strengthening its regulatory standing across the jurisdictions in which it currently operates or plans to operate in the future.
