Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently crossed the wires saying that the U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs were totally unacceptable. Furthermore, Canada's foreign minister Chrystia Freeland has announced the countermeasures they decided to take.

  • Will impose retaliatory measures against U.S. steel, aluminum and other products.
  • Will launch 15-day public consultation.
  • Will impose dollar for dollar tariffs against U.S. measures.
  • Canada will challenge U.S. tariffs under both NAFTA and WTO.
  • Canada continues to negotiate with U.S. on tariffs.
