US: ISM non-manufacturing PMI down to 51.4 in August, lowest in 6 years

US Non-Manufacturing PMI gauged by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), dropped to 51.4 in August from 55.5 the previous month, a report showed Tuesday. This was the lowest reading since January 2010 and the worst single-month decline since 2008.
Expectations were for a more moderated decline to 55.0. Still, the index stood above the 50.0 threshold that separates contraction from expansion in the sector.
