US Senate fails to override Trump veto of bill stopping Saudi weapons sales – Reuters

Despite challenging the US President Donald Trump’s veto on a bill to block arms sales to Saudi Arabia, the US Senate fell short of overriding it on Monday.

The US Senate failed to override President Donald Trump’s veto of legislation passed by Congress that would have blocked the sale of certain weapons to Saudi Arabia, as per the Reuters.

Giving details of the vote, the news report mentions that 45-40 was the ratio that helped sustain President Trump’s veto. It was additionally mentioned that five of the chamber’s 53 Republicans voted to override the Republican president. Fifteen senators did not vote.
