UK PM May to meet 1922 Committee after Brexit vote in June

According to the official statement published following British Prime Minister Theresa May's meeting with the Executive of the 1922 Committee, the PM and the Committee will meet again after the Brexit vote in Parliament in the week commencing June 3rd. The market reaction to this development was relatively muted and the GBP/USD pair was last seen trading near 1.2800, losing 0.4% on a daily basis.

"The Prime Minister is determined to secure our departure from the European Union and is devoting her efforts to securing the 2nd reading os the Withdrawal Agreement Bill in the week coımmencing 3rd June 2019 and the passage of that Bill and the consequent departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union by the summer," the statement read.

"We have agreed that she and I will meet following the 2nd reading of the Bill to agree a timetable for the election of a new leader of the Conservative Unionist Party."
