Indonesia: Bank Indonesia to buck the trend - TDS

Analysts at TD Securities are expecting Bank Indonesia (BI) to hold its 7 day reverse repo rate steady at 6.00% on Thu 21 February.

Key Quotes

“After 175bp of hikes last year BI is likely to have embarked on a multi-month pause.”

“We think the risks of a policy hike that we had forecast in H2 has now receded significantly.”

“There may even be potential for lower policy rates in the short term, but we do not expect BI to ease given their caution over financial stability risks and concerns over the trade and current account deficits.”
