French FinMin Le Maire: Favorable to Europe imposing tax sanctions to US on aircraft spat

It is favorable for Europe to impose tax sanctions to the US over the Airbus/Boeing spat, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said in an interview with BFM TV on Friday.

Le Maire said: "The EU has the possibility to impose sanctions on the United States in relation to the spat between Boeing and Airbus ...it must decide to do so.”

He further said that he would ask the European Commission to extend the payback period of the state loans granted to businesses, in a bid to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Market reaction

EUR/USD is seeing some fresh signs of life as the US dollar eases across the board amid a positive start on the European indices.

At the press time, the major trades at 1.1711, posting small gains on the day.
