EU’s Barnier: Heading to London Friday evening for Brexit talks, significant divergences persist

The European Union (EU) Chief Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier confirmed that he will be traveling to London this evening for Brexit talks, adding that the same significant divergences persist with the UK.

“Physical negotiations can continue as my team and I are no longer in quarantine, Barnier said.

Last hour, he reportedly told the EU envoy that he cannot confirm whether a deal is possible at this stage.

Market reaction

GBP/USD bounced-off a dip to session lows of 1.3354 on hopes of a fresh round of talks, now trading at 1.3368, up 0.10% on the day.
