USD/CAD: Canadian Employment Data Set

The US Dollar depreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian Employment data set release on Friday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate lost 75 pips or 0.57% right after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3210 level against the Canadian Dollar.

Statistics Canada released the Canadian Unemployment Rate data, which came out better-than-expected of 5.5% compared with the forecast of 5.7%.

According to the official release: "Growth in employment was concentrated among both men and women in the core working ages of 25 to 54. There were more people working in health care and social assistance, as well as in accommodation and food services. At the same time, there were declines in information, culture and recreation, and in natural resources. The number of self-employed workers increased, as did the number of employees in the public sector.
