US Sec. of State Blinken: Outraged by the rocket attack in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned the rocket attack in Erbil, the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and offered condolences to the loved ones of the American civilian contractor killed in the attack, in a statement released on Wednesday.

This comes after “Iran’s rocket attack on the airport in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil on Monday killed a civilian contractor with the American-led military coalition and wounded six others, including a US service member, “the New York Times reported, citing a coalition spokesman.

Market implications

Renewed US-Iran geopolitical conflict failed to have any impact on the risk-on action on the global markets, as the covid vaccine optimism outweighs.

The S&P 500 futures rally 0.65% to 3,957, record highs. AUD/USD hits monthly tops just above 0.7800 while the US dollar index drops 0.25% to 90.25.
