U.S. presidential race underway - ANZ

Analysts at ANZ noted that the US presidential race is now entering markets minds as the polls show the race between Hillary and Trump for the top job has closed.

"Today (NZT 2.00pm) is the first of three debates leading up to the 8th November election. From a New Zealand perspective there are a number of facets to be interested in ranging from domestically focused policies (fiscal, corporate tax, environmental etc) through to global security and trade views."

"Both candidates appear reluctant to endorse the Trans-Pacific-Partnership, which from a New Zealand perspective is disappointing as it promises to provide better market access to some of the world’s wealthiest consumer markets – the US, Japan and Canada. And without the US there isn’t too much incentive for the others to join in and do something bilateral in nature."
