UK PM Johnson: Will be setting out a roadmap to bring us out of lockdown cautiously

The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that “we will be setting out a roadmap to bring us out of lockdown cautiously,” adding that the “priority has always been getting children back into school.”

“Our decisions will be made on the latest data at every step,” PM Johnson noted.

Earlier today, The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg reported that the UK is likely to re-open its economy in gradual steps, separated by five weeks.

Market reaction

The pound appears to have caught a fresh bid on the above comments, driving GBP/USD back above 1.4000.

The spot was last seen trading at 1.4007, almost unchanged on the day.
