Trump tweets a call for free trade with the EU

US President Donald Trump took to Twitter late Tuesday to issue a call for the European Union and the United States to drop all trade barriers and tariffs with each other in order to encourage free trade between the two economies.

The European Union is coming to Washington tomorrow to negotiate a deal on Trade. I have an idea for them. Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready - but they won't!

 - President Trump, via Twitter

The Trump administration has a poor track record of actually seeking out free trade policies, since the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) was a trade deal that was meant to eliminate trade barriers, but President Trump was quick to withdraw the US from the program, citing that it was a "bad deal" for the US.
