The First Results are In – Sunderland Leaves Strongly - TDS
|Analysts at TD Securities explained that we have now had 5 voting areas report, including a few key constituencies.
Key Quotes:
"Support so far has been mixed for Remain: one of the key areas watched was Sunderland, which was expected to go to Leave. Support for Leave, however, at 61%, was much stronger than expected. Other voting areas came in closer to expectations, with Newcastle at 51% Remain, exactly as we expected.
Cable has plunged on the Sunderland result – dipping below 1.44 but has since jumped back to 1.4550.
Turnout numbers so far suggest a national turn-out of about 70%, which favours neither side particularly.
Despite the Sunderland disappointment, our forecast still points to a narrow Remain win. The race continues to be a very tight one indeed… Next to look for are Swindon and Hartlepool in the next hour."
