Russian forces attacked a Kharkiv institute that contains an experimental nuclear reactor

Ukrainian parliament says Russian forces attacked a Kharkiv institute that contains an experimental nuclear reactor.

Says neighbouring hostel is on fire.

In a tweet, the parliament's official website said fighting close to the Institute of Physics and Technology was continuing.

According to Argonne National Laboratory, ''it is impossible for a reactor to explode like a nuclear weapon; these weapons contain very special materials in very particular configurations, neither of which are present in a nuclear reactor.''

However, a meltdown is considered very serious as it could cause a large amount of radioactive material to be released into the environment.

Nevertheless, this is not getting the same market reaction as In the attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant did which sparked massive risk-off reactions in financial markets last week.
